[MEGA MOTHER OF PEARL LAMP SHADE WORK SHOP] is a manufacturer — not a trading company — of mother of pearl (nacre) და

Why our location is a product feature
Most shell-craft regions in the world have the hands but not the hardware. In Vietnam and
India the inlay artisans are superb, but the sockets, cords, frames and certified electrical
components are imported — very often from here. Around us, everything is local: shell
processors who have handled [white lip oyster] for decades, workshops that slice nacre to
[0.4–0.8] mm without burning it, frame and metal shops, UL/CE-listed component suppliers,
and forwarders running weekly consolidation out of [Shenzhen / Guangzhou / Hong Kong].
That density is what makes a 7-day sample and a 30-day production window real rather than
aspirational.
What actually happens to the shell
Raw shell arrives sorted by species, thickness and defect. It is cleaned, cut to shape, sanded,
drilled under water cooling so the edges do not chip, then laid piece by piece onto a matched
substrate with a flexible, low-yellowing adhesive. The surface is sealed with [2–7] coats of
UV-resistant clear lacquer, sanded between every coat, and finally buffed. Depending on the

automated without losing the iridescence that makes the material worth using.
The problem we solved: consistency
Natural material is both our strongest selling point and our biggest liability. In a 300-room
hotel, 300 “unique” lampshades is not a feature — it is a complaint waiting to happen. So we
built a grading system. Shell is sorted into colour families ([თეთრი / champagne / ოქრო / ნაცრისფერი /
multicolour]) and defect grades (ა / ჩვენ ვახარისხებთ ჩრდილებს / ჩვენ ვახარისხებთ ჩრდილებს) at intake. Large orders are laid out against a
numbered layout drawing, and every production batch is matched against a retained master
sample under standardised [4000K] viewing light. The result is a shell shade that still looks
organic, but reads as one family across an entire floor.
What we refuse to do
We do not use printed film, acrylic overlay or crushed-shell flake composite and call it
mother of pearl. Those surfaces look flat, and they bubble or peel — usually within six
months of meeting heat and humidity. We also do not touch CITES-listed species: no giant
clam (tridacna), no helmet shell, no queen conch. Every shipment carries species
documentation so your customs broker never has to guess.
Built for the container, not just the showroom
Shell is a moisture-sensitive material. Components are dried to an equilibrium moisture
content of ≤8% before inlay begins, finished pieces are conditioned for 48 hours at 25–28°C /
45–55% RH, and every unit is individually sleeved, EPE-wrapped, boxed in 5-ply corrugated
cartons with corner protection and a desiccant sachet. LCL shipments get a wooden crate.

Dust with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. That is the entire routine.
Never use vinegar, lemon, bleach, ammonia, alcohol, acetone or abrasive cleaners —
nacre is calcium carbonate and acids etch it permanently.
Never soak, never steam-clean, never ultrasonic-clean; keep moisture away from seams.
Use LED only and stay within the stated wattage; excess heat dries the organic binder and
causes hairline cracking.
Avoid prolonged direct sunlight and spotlights close to the shade; UV yellows the organic
protein layer over time.
